Aviation Academy Featured on KDKA

News about the Aviation Academy is starting to spread!

KDKA’s Jon Delano stopped into High Flight Academy on Friday, May 24 to discuss this new program for high school students, created in partnership with Community College of Beaver County and Butler County Community College.

Watch the feature below.

Beginning this fall, high school students can get two years’ of training in basic aviation. After two years, they will have earned one year’s worth of credit at either of the two community colleges.

KDKA’s Jon Delano spoke with our director of operations, Fabio Ruberto.

“They will be taught by the colleges’ instructors as well as our instructors, so we will provide the flight training instruction and the college will provide the ground school, the basics in aviation, so things like aerodynamics, and understanding all of the different control services of an aircraft, weather patterns, basic flight training and flight skills,” explained Ruberto.

Students who complete the program will have a huge advantage in starting a career. Because of the shortage of airline pilots, new pilots can “start in high five figure, low six figure income your first year,” said Ruberto.

We are thrilled to see the enthusiasm and support this program has already generated. Thank you to Jon Delano and KDKA for helping to spread the word.
