Preserving the History of the Beach City Baby

Our love of aviation extends beyond our passion for training the next generation of pilots. Our staff also share a deep appreciation for the history of aviation. Last week, Fabio Ruberto, our Director of Admissions, was involved in an effort to restore a plane affectionately known as the “Beach City Baby.”

This Douglas C-53 plane was first used to drop paratroopers during the Allied invasion of Sicily in 1943. It later served as the Ohio One aircraft for the governor of Ohio for twenty years.

Fabio enjoyed the restoration work, as well as networking with other aviation enthusiasts. Check out a few photos and this video of the Beach City Baby below!
