High Flight Academy, Western Pennsylvania's premier flight school, is looking for a full-time General Aviation mechanic to join our growing team. The candidate will need to have some General Aviation experience working on piston-powered aircraft; preferably Cessna 172, and Piper Aircraft.

Position Overview:

This position works as a team member in a professional shop performing inspections, repair, and preventative maintenance on Piston flight training aircraft. The successful candidate will possess the appropriate personality to work in a flight school environment while maintaining a constant focus on safety and quality.

Qualifications:

  • Airframe and Power Plant (A&P) Certificate
  • Piston-powered aircraft maintenance experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of Federal Aviation Regulations and manufacturer
    manuals
  • Possess adequate tools
  •  FAA Inspection Authorization (optional)
  •  (I A) certificate (optional)
  •  Avionics troubleshooting experience (Garmin GPS)

Responsibilities:

  • Perform efficient troubleshooting, aircraft maintenance, and repair in accordance with
    applicable regulations, manufacturer’s instructions, and company policies
  • Ensure consistent, accurate aircraft maintenance records by properly documenting &
    completing required forms, computer entries, and logbook entries
  • Follow all policies and procedures
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Enter all activities into work order software system
  • Maintain accurate and relevant inventory of spare parts and supplies
  • Keep a clean and orderly work environment
  • Perform job duties in a safe manner
  • Perform other duties as assigned

The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, all aspects of flight training processes, the safety of operations, quality of training, and compliance with Part 141 regulations. The Airplane Chief Flight Instructor is a key member of our flight school and leads our team of CFIs. The Chief Flight Instructor will take the lead on the FAA-approved Part 141 training courses taught to students

Job Duties:

  • Promote High Flight Academy's commitment to exemplary service and quality by the successful execution of the duties assigned.
  • Work with assistant Chief Instructor, Operations Manager and admissions manager to support and manage Flight Instructors to assure compliance with safety, FAA, and customer service standards.
  • Ensure that all course standards, training requirements, and objectives are met by all students as stipulated in the applicable training course outline.
  • Hold weekly Instructor and Student Progress check-ins to discuss monthly billable time expectations and student progress.
  • Create action plans for CFls and students to improve student progression including but not limited to, ensuring students are scheduled adequately, proper use of the ACS, study material is assigned regularly, and setting the proper student expectations.
  • Coordinate with Assistant Chief Instructor to complete Part61/Part141 stage checks.
  • Manage the hiring process for instructors by interviewing prospective candidates with the Operations Manager.
  • Manage new instructor onboarding and complete required CFI checkouts/training.
  • Complete quarterly CFI evaluations.
  • Ensure all CFI personal documents and licenses are up to date and complete in Flight SchedulePro.
  • Ensure CFl's uphold company expectations in regard to dress code, behavior, and scheduling.
  • Planning of monthly flight instructor meetings.
  • Manage the coordination of ground school courses.
  • Assist the Operations and Admissions Manager in planning and execution of programs involving personnel, equipment, policies, and procedures required of the Flight Training Department.
  • Work with Assistant Chief Flight Instructor and General Manager on revising Training Course Outlines and Flight Training Syllabi.
  • Scheduling and maintaining relationships with DPE's.
  • Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
