Scholarships for Students at PGH-Butler Airport: Applications due 12/31!

The Future of Flight Scholarship has been created to help fund and encourage aspiring pilots through awarding one $5,000 scholarship and two $2,500 scholarships for flight training at the Pittsburgh-Butler Regional Airport.

Qualified applicants must be Butler County residents and pilot trainees at one of the Pittsburgh-Butler Regional Airport flight schools.

Expenses which qualify for funding are the cost of any flight, ground, or simulator training, as well as books, materials and testing fees, at a Butler County FAA Part 61 or 141 flight school. Funds will be disbursed directly to the school and must be used in the 2020 calendar year.

The scholarship committee will make a recommendation to the Authority Board for approval at the February 2020 board meeting. Recipients will be notified in writing and funds will be issued to the school, as expenses are incurred.

Submit the following items in writing to Pittsburgh-Butler Regional Airport Future of Flight Scholarship, c/o Butler County Airport Authority, 473 Airport Rd Ste 2, Butler PA 16002. All requirements must be received no later than December 31, 2019.

1) Completed application including, if under 18 years old, parent or legal guardian consent.

2) A one to three-page essay specifying your flight training history and past aviation activities, your plans for future flight training and what you want to accomplish with the license or certification to which you aspire.
